Abstract

This research paper has discussed the effect of the harmonics on the power quality of the power supply and also the different configurations of the front-end rectifiers for the harmonic reduction in drives and Inverters. In addition, a comprehensive comparison of all the configurations is made in terms of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). This research paper describes the results on the basis of MATLAB simulation. It is shown how, with suitable modifications in the conventional front end rectifier design can be extended to allow the harmonic distortion.

Keywords: Active Front end Converter (AFC), active rectifier, Vector Oriented Control (VOC)
